Week 7: Finalizing & Refining

I can't believe there are only two weeks left of my internship! It's crazy how quickly time has flown by. After photographing Xondas technology and lab, we began finalizing the company's website, adding images that best represent the brand and the company. This week has been focused on assembling everything, continuously reviewing the content, images, colors, format, and more. We had a meeting with the team for feedback, and we've been reiterating our designs to ensure they not only satisfy Xondas but also provide the best user experience. We are at the stage where we are constantly refining the website to make sure it is the best it can be. Some of the key things I've learned so far this week is: The Importance of Visuals : Having high-quality images play an important role in representing the brand and creating a professional look for the website. Always look to Improve : Iteration is key. Regularly reviewing and refining our design ensures that the final product m...

Week 6: Style Guide & Photography

This is my sixth week of my internship with Xondas! I finished creating our company style guide and made sure our design is consistent and fits well with Xondas' brand by choosing the right typeface and color palette. Everything is coming together nicely so far! I had a great opportunity to visit the University of Michigan's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science school this week. We went there to take photos of Xondas' technology for our website. The campus was beautiful, and I enjoyed the drive and walking around the campus! We also visited the Xondas lab in downtown Ann Arbor and took more pictures of their setup and technology. These images will play a crucial role in showcasing Xondas capabilities, case studies, and enhancing the visual appeal of our website. Since I don't have much experience with photography, it was a great learning experience. I learned about getting the right angles, the importance of focusing on details, and taking lots of photos to get t...

Week 5: Website Development, Key Learnings, & Future Steps

This is my fifth week interning with Xondas, and it's been an exciting journey! This week, I began building the company's website on Squarespace. My partner and I are focusing on the layout, ensuring it meets the Xondas team's expectations before diving into colors and typography. During our Thursday meeting, the team was thrilled with the layout and eager to see the next steps unfold. Our next challenge is selecting the right color palette and typography. We aim for a consistent and accessible design that aligns with Xondas' branding. Initially, I felt overwhelmed by the color choices, but I addressed this by prioritizing the layout and creating a style guide based on the company's brand colors. I researched industry trends and how best to complement Xondas' primary orange color. This helped me plan the design elements, including buttons, typography, and images, ensuring a cohesive look. Throughout this process, I've learned several key lessons: Always take...

Week 4: Design Progress & Research

Week 4 of my internship with Xondas has flown by! With only six weeks left, things are moving quickly. This week, my partner and I began sketching and designing high-fidelity prototypes for the Xondas website. We made sure to keep the company’s objectives and goals in mind, implementing them throughout our design process. We considered how many pages to include and what type of content to add. Our goal is to meet the company’s needs while ensuring the site is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and up-to-date with industry trends. We had a meeting with the Xondas team to present our high-fidelity designs, and they were well-received! They provided some valuable feedback on areas for improvement. One challenge we are facing is finding the right wording to align with how Xondas wants to present itself. We plan to work through this with the company's guidance. Additionally, my partner and I researched how to reach potential customers for Xondas. After thorough research, we concluded that...

Week 3: Progress and Plans

This is my third week at the Digital Summer Clinic, and it has been an incredible learning experience so far! Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with my assigned company, Xondas. During our meeting, I gathered essential information about their website goals, objectives, and overall vision. Understanding these aspects is crucial to ensuring the website aligns perfectly with their needs and expectations. Following this important discussion, I took the initiative to create a site map. This map outlines the website's structure, providing a clear blueprint of how information will be organized and presented. Also, I developed a detailed buyer persona based on a past Xondas client. This persona helps us understand our target audience's needs, preferences, and behaviors, which is crucial for designing a user-centric website. To further strengthen our project, my partner and I conducted an in-depth competitive analysis. We examined similar companies to identify best practices and ...

I'm diving into my second week at the Digital Summer Clinic! This week, I'm getting ready for my first meeting with my assigned company, and I couldn't be more excited. Here's what's on my agenda: I'm currently preparing a list of insightful questions to understand the company's goals, objectives, needs, and overall content strategy for their website. Key among these are identifying their target audience—who will be visiting and using the site—and ensuring our design direction aligns perfectly with their vision. Additionally, I'm conducting thorough competitor research to gain valuable insights and inspiration from similar websites in the industry. Understanding what others are doing will help us carve out a unique and effective design approach. I'm genuinely looking forward to the upcoming meeting and how our discussions will shape the design of the company's website. It's an incredible opportunity to apply what I've learned so far and c...
